A NEW BELGRADE APARTMENT THAT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE A SHOWROOM

An open living space, carefully selected furniture and an interior designed to look better once real life begins to take over.
New Belgrade has a rhythm of its own. Wide streets, large architectural gestures and apartments that often demand a clear decision about how much space should simply be left alone. Here, the answer was not to add more, but to choose better.
The living room, kitchen and dining area are arranged as one continuous space, yet the apartment never slips into showroom territory. Pieces by Bonaldo, Alf Da Frè, Arrital and Papadatos were selected for proportion, comfort and the way they work together, rather than for their ability to command attention individually.
Warm tones and tactile surfaces soften the geometry of the apartment, while the layout leaves enough room around the furniture for the interior to breathe. In the main living area, comfort comes less from abundance and more from the relationship between objects and the space around them.
The private rooms are quieter. The principal bedroom, dressing area and bathroom work as one everyday sequence, with nothing overly staged about the transition between them. The focus is simply on making room for routines, mornings and the slower end of the day.
This is not an apartment designed to feel complete on the day it is photographed. The more interesting idea is that it will improve with use, as books, objects, habits and the traces of everyday life gradually become part of the interior.
